Yoga Poses for Diabetes

Practicing specific yoga poses like Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend), Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), and Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) can improve blood circulation, stimulate insulin production, and enhance flexibility. While, Controlled Pranayama (breathing exercises), such as Kapalbhati and Anulom Vilom, help in reducing stress and improving lung capacity. This can contribute to better blood sugar management.

Chronic stress can impact blood sugar levels. Yoga's emphasis on relaxation and mindfulness helps alleviate stress, promoting emotional well-being crucial for diabetes management. Regular yoga practice has been linked to increased insulin sensitivity, enabling the body to utilize insulin more effectively and maintain stable blood sugar levels. Mindful meditation practices in yoga enhance awareness, aiding individuals in making healthier lifestyle choices, including dietary habits and physical activity.

While yoga can be beneficial, consulting with healthcare professionals is crucial to ensure a safe and personalized approach, especially for those with pre-existing health conditions. By integrating yoga into your daily routine, you can empower yourself in the ongoing management of diabetes. Yoga is much bigger than just standing or sitting on our mat, bending and contorting ourselves into various shapes. It’s a practice designed to shake your very core and makes you to lead a disciplined life. This is the lesson which I learnt from shiva yoga centre in a short span of time. Guruji Ms Bhuvana ma’am- Her teaching comes from the heart and the higher self rather than the mind and ego. Enriched with traditional knowledge and her unique holistic approach makes ourselves connected to her teachings. To align our energies with universe, to achieve inner harmony and mental peace - I strongly recommend Shiva yoga centre to anyone who wants to take yoga for life.
